Location

Mariagiri, the mount dedicated to Mary, is located at Peermade in Idukki, the biggest district in Kerala, forming the 13% of the total area of the state and a lion’s share of the cultivable land is dominated by tea, coffee, cardamom plantation, besides the forest land. Peermade, a small beautiful town is located at K.K. Road , 75 km from Kottayam and 35km from Kumily. It is blessed by the fragrance of spices, also with the green beautiful mountains adorned by the pine trees and often crowned with mist. This place is known as the Ootty of Kerala. It stands more than 1000 meters above the sea level. The famous tourist destinations like Thekkady, Vagamon, Parumthumpara, Pattumala shrine and Panchalimedu are very near to Peermade.
